Who does the teaching?
Stone
Table teachers are currently a variety of homeschool parents or former
homeschoolers with experience, education, or certification in their subject
area. Click the Teacher Bios tab for more details.
What is the Secondary volunteer and drop-off policy?
Secondary
parents should plan to volunteer for door duty and clean-up jobs for a few shifts
per semester depending on number of students per classes enrolled. Melissa
Jones is our secondary volunteer coordinator and will organize a rotation in
the summer after rosters have been filled.
We have a few other volunteer jobs,
but those are reserved for special circumstances.
Parents of driving
students will still need to fulfill volunteer jobs. In some
circumstances, the student may be able to complete the volunteer job in place
of the parent. Those situations will require special attention and should be
worked out prior to the first day of class.
Secondary
students who are able to manage themselves independently may be dropped off for
classes. If a student is unable to behave appropriately without a parent on site,
the parent will be asked to attend classes or remain on the premises to supervise
their student.
What is the Primary volunteer policy?
Primary
parents rotate within the classes to help as needed as classroom aids, recess
monitors, door monitors, set-up and clean-up crews.
What is the Discipline policy?
We ask all
students to be mindful of these principles based on scripture:
1)
Be
kind (Ephesians 4:32)
2)
Be
respectful (Philipians 2:3-4)
3)
Be
a good listener (James 1:19)
4)
Use
self-control (Titus 2:4-8)
On
occasion, a student will need a reminder.
In that case, the teacher will follow these steps depending on the
situation, age of student, and class:
1)
Warning
given
2)
Reminder given and follow up with parents
3) Parent attends class with student or removes them from room (depending on age of student)
3) Parent attends class with student or removes them from room (depending on age of student)
We don’t anticipate problems, but extra attention given to a poorly behaved student takes precious time away
from class and it is not fair to the other students. If the above discipline policy is ineffective,
your student will be asked to leave.
What is the cost for Registration and Tuition?
Registration
fees are currently $50 for the first student and $40 for each additional
student. The registration fees cover the church usage fee, liability
insurance, miscellaneous cleaning & classroom supplies for all classes, and
party supplies.
Registration
checks are payable to Melissa Jones who collects payments for registration.
Upon enrollment, you will receive details with payment instructions. Please do not address checks to Stone Table.
Do you offer refunds?
We completely understand
that life happens, however, it is not the practice of the STSG instructors to
offer refunds because we have reserved a spot for your student and have planned classes for the year. The commitment
between parents and STSG should be for the duration of the school year. We
are dependent on each of our families to make Stone Table run smoothly. Please
plan carefully prior to making a commitment. We do offer partial
payments but all teachers should be paid within the first couple months of
class. Please see individual teacher's class bio for specific
details.
